Heh, you're not alone there (i'm up to four fingers ^_^). The best thing to do is find people who will play at your pace. Talk to folks, maybe join a guild if they look like your kinda people, and you'll eventually find your level.

Gasp! And yes, I've noticed the same.

Fortunately, it's not to the point that I miss the little hormone-charged leetfreaks from Diablo II's Battle.net servers.

Hey, I also hate people who say pwnage and l33t, just spell the whole freaking word correctly. I am 14, but I am a gamer, not a stupid little idiot who spells words incorrectly, and scream stupid comments. While I was playing the BWE I didn't hear anybody screaming annoying comments like they do in Counter Strike, so I am being hopeful.

so how old is everyone??? i myself am 19 and feel that this game, although everygame has its share of immature people, has a decent sized population of adults (if i'm allowed to consider myself an adult , since i havnt really entered the real world yet)

I'm 18 years old, and most of my friends who are playing the game are 17/18, but, at least from looking at the profiles of some of the people around here, there is a considerable presence of adults who play the game. An example would be to look at todays birthdays...

The age range found in the Guild Wars community has a nice wide span. In addition, it is without doubt one of the most friendly and intelligent communities I've been a part of in all of my gaming years.

...and I'm making myself sound like an old man. 20, here.

most of the people who say "your a haxor, you a suxor" and swear more than they say other words, dont have the patience this game requires, thats why you see less and less of them as you progress through the game. they give up when it takes longer than 5 seconds to kill something.

i have never played a game without some kids or somebody going ''TOTALLY PWNED! J00!''

or some stupid stuff like that.....you can single out almost everybody that plays the game and just talk to them one on one and most of them seem like REAL people....i dont know if any of you have noticed...ive never run into ONE of those kind of ''HAXOR!!!!'' kind of people.....

i think this will make the game HELLA more enjoyable...i mean think about trading...people will actually trade fair and know what there doing and stuff

i dont know maybe im just on a good luck streak, but everybody ive played with so far is pretty cool
I agree, its great! And yes totally adds to the game. And tehre is an exception. (YOu maybe on a lick streak ) This one guy I was trying to trade iwth wouldn't say anthing so I couldn't liek trade.

what is wrong with 2 finger typing? lol, i use 3..... just a step above myself....lol

but i agree that ya, way to meny "WTS/WTB" all over the place. the easiest remedy for that would be to all agree that a certain district (i.e. dist. 1 of each town) be held and used for just that. get all those spammers together... that way, if you want to go shopping, you know where to go.

I did meet a couple that were somewhat immature, but i am not going to hash them for it. they could have been stressed out and just gotten pissed. those were in the PvP arenas. if you lose, no big deal.... if you win, do a victory dance. but they dropped out saying somewthing about a bunch of losers...... i just laughed at him. he was either 10-12 years old or just pissed about losing a few times.

I'm 56 but I love gaming. I still check out Diablo2 occasionally but less and less am I finding people willing to explore the maps and pick up loot and sell stuff. I like to take my time and most other gamers don't. I like to keep my stash full and buy better equipment. I like to work out strategy...most like to rush headlong...if that makes me old I guess I am, but I like hacking and slashing along with the best of them.

I'm 31 and I have been playing D2 much less. Not at all this past BWE. As a matter of fact my wife almost killed me for playing 24hrs straight. But it was so much fun.

P.S. The name is because I have a female char. Although I whish they had elves. That way I could be a real Dark Elf.

Talking

You see now there's a mix. But I know a few peorple that play WOW & EQO and they range from 20's to 30's and beyond. Yes, I am myself 35yrs. and love playing this game. I am a Diablo, Diablo2+, DOOM+, Quake+, Unreal+, Half-Life+, Mechwarrior+, Never been in a clan because I never have time . As I have talked to my friends they have to much money invested to play Guildwars until I told them no monthly fee... Man I think everyone I know is going to jump ship (meaning: WOW & EQO) when Guildwars is released. Plus my son and a few of his friends are playing all reanging from 16 to 18.

Going to quickly derail the thread a bit here; seeing those older game titles got me misty.

Much love for the fans of the Mechwarrior series out there!

What's nice is that those types are a minority in this game so far.

However, we'll see how many join up upon gamelaunch.

Also, what's nice about the game is that even with the age differences it will really be hard to PK(Diablo+ or EQO) someone in the game.

So far I've only had to call one person a noob. And they really were.

"Ahh, m3 s0 l33t, I g0t p@$t T0uG| - | 3 $ t l3\/3L bY m3s3lF '

'Shut up you 'okay I thought this would be cencored' noob idiot. '

I was rather suprised that wasn't censored by a computer system, sorry.

Shadowbane isn't really fun in itself. I can bet that for a lot of players it's more fun to trashtalk on a forums after a battle than a battle itself.
In GW battles are fun, fair (no zergs like in SB etc.), results of a battle aren't really important for most players (after all, you can't lose a city your nation built for months) so it's not surprisingly that relations between guilds are more calm. In Shadowbane, for some players opponents are enemies. In Guild Wars, your opponents are your partners that also have fun playing with you. Also, in Shadowbane there are PK/RPK guilds that have a strong "US vs Them" mentality (it comes from Ultima Online) - they don't like Carebears and/or zergs. 1337 speak was one of the things that differentiated PKs from Carebears, it's like a sign that you belong to a PK caste.

Actually, they may just not look at the chat all the time. There is a lot of chat in teamspeak while regular chat is near empty so after a while they just don't notice a regular chat. Also, you should be very familiar with communicating on a two channels simultaneously to notice that some information was said in one channel but not on the other and mirror it there etc. while continue playing at the same time.
